How to upload maps to the workshop

A guide on how to upload your creations to the Steam workshop for others to download and play.

Uploading your map

Hello fellow players!
Are you making maps? That's awesome!
Are you having trouble uploading them? No worries!
Here'due south a guide to this simple procedure, in case yous demand one:

Steps

  1. Make a map
    Sounds pretty obvious, doesn't it?
In any case, the map doesn't need to be finished, every bit y'all can hide information technology from the public while even so being on the workshop. Just a minor note.
For those who are hither and don't even know how to get to the editor: Right-click Cobalt on your library and chose "Launch game editor" (Sorry if those aren't the verbal words).

  2. Open the workshop popup
This can exist washed either by pressing Ctrl + W or going to the "File" menu and clicking on "Steam Workshop".
  3. Asking a workshop ID
To exercise this, simply printing the "Asking workshop ID" button in the popup. This volition create an entry in the workshop for your map!

  4. Provide data and upload the map
Once you lot have a workshop ID for your map, it'southward time to actually upload the data for your map.
Offset click on the "Edit Workshop Particular" push button, and then click on "Fetch Workshop Data".

After that look a couple seconds and this window will testify up. In here you can enter the championship for the workshop entry & its description (not the map'south, though for mine I provide the same) equally well as tag it.
You can also chose who can see your map in the workshop - recollect to set it to "Public" once y'all're done!

In the bottom half you can provide a brief changelog on the update, merely that's optional.
Below that at that place's a push button named "Select preview...", which will open a folder browser for y'all to select a preview thumbnail for the workshop so people can speedily recognise your map.
The preview, if I'yard not incorrect, should be foursquare and 195px * 195px minimum.
Yous also accept a field in which yous can type the accented path to the preview image, if that'due south easier for you.

Later y'all've filled all of that, hit the "Submit Workshop Data" button to showtime your upload. This window will show upwards, make sure to click on "Aye":

After you confirm the upload, the buttons volition grayness out for a little while, until this message shows upwards at the bottom of the screen. Success!

Once you're done, click on the "Stop Editing Detail" button.
Now all that you need to practise to play your map is go to the workshop, find it, and subscribe to information technology! Then information technology will automatically prove up and update in the "Steam user maps" section of the BitSquid game version (the one that is non the editor, the "master game").

Adding screenshots, video, and other info to your workshop entry

All this can be done from within the workshop itself.
To become there, you can printing the "Open in Overlay" button in the Ctrl + W popup from the editor, but I recommend you that instead you open up upwards the workshop in your browser, since it's much, much easier to upload multiple files from in that location.

The following menu can be found in the sidebar. From in that location i information technology's all pretty straighforward then I don't call back I need to explain anything.

Updating your map

Updating maps couldn't exist more simple, both for the author and the users who have downloaded it.

As the writer, only open your map on the editor again, press Ctrl + W, "Edit Workshop Particular", "Fetch Workshop Information", and then only modify things to your liking.
If yous but want to update the map without modifying any workshop info, click on "Submit Workshop Data", await for it to end, then click "End Editing Particular". Done!

As a player, you don't have to practice annihilation at all! All maps you lot subscribe to get downloaded and updated automatically equally the author uploads a new version.

Troubleshooting

For now, this section is small. Any questions asked in the comments will be added hither.

I'm uploading a new version of my map, but when I open the game and play the map, it'southward withal an older version. How do I fix this?
This can happen when you save your map with a different name than it already had.
To fix this, look at the workshop ID of your map, then go to documents\cobalt\workshop\maps\that ID. In there, erase all files.
Upload your map once again and everything should exist fine!

Thanks & notes

I'd like to thank Oxeye for the fantastic job they've done, and for creating such a powerful editor assuasive for huge freedom and letting me make a ton of maps.
As well thanks for adding some of my maps into the game!

If you have any question, want to correct some error, or something else, please comment right away!
Promise this helped!
